Social Butterfly

Eight years ago, a precious baby girl arrived in my family.  She was born with a cleft palate and lip.  Through these years, she has endured many surgeries. Many tears. There will be more in the future.

Speech therapy has also been a mainstay in her life.  Each word that she speaks is like a beautiful sculpture to me. But, for her, it is pure gold that she mined and refined personally.

You’d never imagine that her classmates and family describe her as a social butterfly.  However, her teachers would be all too ready to confirm this truth. She was born to talk, and she is making up for lost time.  God created her perfectly. Having fought so hard and endured so much pain in order to talk.  Could you have done that?  Her rare spirit is what people see and hear when she speaks.  Not her diction or eloquence.  And, she is loved perfectly!
